The right choice
When Orkla Foods Norge AS chose ProMark for its workforce and employee management system at the Toro factory in Bergen, the main benefit could be summed up in two words: operational control
Previously the Toro factory at Arna in Bergen used a time registration system whereby each employee manually submitted their hours of work. This resulted in a pile of over 400 registration slips every day and a large amount of time spent correcting wrongly submitted information.
Orkla Foods Norge AS, who own Toro, needed a more complete system for workforce management. They contacted a number of players in the market, and certain operators quickly set themselves apart from the rest of the field.
"We had nine potential vendors in the evaluation process. The primary requirement was that the system could handle a company of our size, with an emphasis on reporting and user friendliness," says Christine Grung, HR consultant at Orkla Foods Norge AS.
In the end there were three vendors who were asked to solve a specific case. The result left no doubt.
"ProMark was by far the best alternative. It has an extremely user-friendly interface as well as fine reporting facilities," says Grung.
The system is scalable to allow for future expansion, and the upgrading of the system takes place continuously, allowing the implementation of new functions and technology.
The ProMark system used is integrated with SAP to ensure the correct transfer of payroll data. Personnel register their own working hours, which eliminates a source of errors, increases the employees’ trust in the system and frees up time. The payroll department can thus carry out other work tasks.
"Fewer sources of error increases efficiency and significantly reduces costs. But the greatest advantage of using ProMark is without a doubt operational control on an individual level."

"Unlike in the past we can now run reports every hour. We can also set on-call agreements, shifts, tariff agreements and other protocols in the system. This gives us an agreeable relationship with employee representatives as well as the unions," she continues.
The ProMark system also has other benefits
"ProMark allows us to see who is on site at any given time. This makes is easy to keep track if an alarm sounds at the factory or other unexpected situations arise," says Grung.
She underlines the fact that having an overview of who is travelling on business or is out of office, makes it easy to inform customers and others when employees are expected back.
