ProJob - job registration and shop floor monitoring

ProJob is a standard module for managing job registration and shop floor monitoring for medium-sized and large manufacturing companies.

Paper-based systems are expensive
In any environment where the employees report their personal attendance, machine time, amounts, status or quality data using a paper-based system, there is an opportunity to save both time and money.

With ProJob as a part of your company’s production control environment you are sure to have the correct data for:

  • cost price fixing
  • measuring efficiency
  • measuring productivity
  • maintaining standard times
  • reducing waste
  • explaining deviations from norms

ProJob is suitable for most types of production, with either simple or complex requirements for data collection.

ProJob is primarily designed for the discrete manufacturing industry involved with:

  • Single item production
  • Batch or series production
  • 'Repetitive’ production

ProJob can also be used in that part of the process industry where you attribute resources, status and amount registration to the order and operation.

ProJob is an on-line system
The job registrations that ProJob is set up to collect from the individual work place are:

  • Time used (e.g. set-up and run time)
  • Order/operation status
  • Amount produced or scrapped
  • Material consumption
  • Quality data (SPC) which is reported, validated and calculated on-line, and the result is used to update the MRP II system immediately.

ProJob will cover your data collection requirements both now and in the future. ProJob can even deal with complicated algorithms for allocating time:

  • One operator on several operations
  • Several operators on the same operation
  • Man time plus machine time on operation
  • Equal time allocation between operations
  • Relative time allocation

ProJob is an advanced product with no limitations in:

  • The order or operation register
  • Number of different registration profiles
  • Number of employee qualifications
  • Number of operations started
  • Number of reasons
  • Number of accounts (conditions)
  • Number of workcentres

How to use ProJob
Order and operation information for the released orders are duplicated from the MRP II system to the ProJob database. The released work orders can be printed with a barcode which can either identify the order or the operation.

When an employee has identified himself at a registration terminal, he will be asked to enter an order or operation number either via the terminal’s keyboard or via barcode.

Job in and out can be entered using data collection terminals, via a PC in a standard network, and using portable hand-held terminals.

The main functions on the registration terminal for the ProJob module are:

  • Job in
  • Change operation condition (e.g. from set-up to production)
  • Report amounts
  • Status and condition change
  • Material consumption
  • Quality data
  • Job out

The registrations made by the employee can, of course, be changed by the company’s foremen, managers etc., but it is not possible to delete the employee’s registrations; you can only make them invalid in ProJob.

The advanced set-up in ProJob allows you to validate the operator’s registrations and ask for a reason if he deviates from:

  • Time consumed versus normal time
  • Amount registered versus the planned amount
  • Too high a scrap percentage
  • Operator lacking qualifications in relation to the requirements necessary to   operate a machine or the qualifications necessary for the operation

Furthermore, via PC-Mark you can get direct access to an electronic drawing archive, operation descriptions, instructions or video sequences, showing e.g. the correct assembly etc.

ProJob sub-modules

Quantity registration. This module allows the individual employee to register the amount of produced and scrapped items. At the same time, the employee can enter the reason why an item was scrapped.

Materials for operation. This module allows the operator to report the amount of materials used for the current operation. Used materials can be validated against a defined product index in ProMark.

Machines/resources adds an extra dimension in the registration independent of the individual employees. Here you collect time on machines and resources. See separate product sheet.

Kanban order registration. With its starting point in the Japanese Kanban technique, the Mark Group has developed a module which makes it possible to make decentralised order scheduling from individual registration terminals. The module uses a Kanban register where all Kanban cards can be set up, and the module ensures that there is only one order active per Kanban card. The normal principles for job registration can be used by Kanban orders.
