Management acquires Mark Information giving an additional boost to growth plans
The management of Mark Information headed by chairman of the board Torkel Olrik have acquired all the shares in the Danish IT company. Major investments in technology and organisational development are intended to ratchet growth up a notch.
In a management buyout (MBO), the management of Mark Information have bought out the previous majority shareholder Hauen Holding A/S, and have formed a new ownership structure. Hauen Holding A/S owned 70 per cent of Mark Information, while the remaining 30 per cent was owned by the chairman of the board of directors of Mark Information, Torkel Olrik. Following the MBO, the executive management of Mark Information now own 30 per cent of the shares and Torkel Olrik has increased his ownership to 70 per cent.
The new ownership structure comes at a time when Mark Information has particularly favourable following winds. This year, sales are expected to reach almost DKK 60 million as against DKK 47 million in 2006. The management aims to further boost growth and reach the DKK 100 million mark over the forthcoming three to five years.
"Mark Information's principal foundation is expertise. Although the company is firmly anchored in technology, it is with our staff and our intellectual capital that the real value lies. Thus it is of major benefit if those who are responsible for pushing forward development in the company are also its owners - it guarantees a commitment to the customer and a progressive and developmental spirit. The MBO will boost the dynamism of our organisation even more," says Torkel Olrik, chairman of the board of directors of Mark Information.
The production industry under pressure to use ITMark Information specialises in data collection solutions for industry, and by focusing on vertical sector knowhow it has attained a powerful market position. According to Torkel Olrik, the management expects the company's role to be further strengthened in the forthcoming years.
"Data collection solutions are quite literally critical to the mission of the production industry, which is Mark Information's traditional customer segment. Companies are under pressure from a lack of skilled production staff on the one hand and the rising price of production equipment on the other. Consequently, it is absolutely crucial for companies to be able to monitor their capacity utilisation and continuously optimise their production and logistics links with the help of real time data," says Torkel Olrik.
Torkel Olrik is an active chairman of the board with in-depth knowledge of the production industry and the challenges being faced by Danish producers. Besides being chairman of the board of Mark Information, he is CEO of the steel company BARTO A/S, a company which since 2005 has grown from having sales of DKK 25 million to the DKK 110 million of today.
