The largest SAP installation in Northern Europe has been expanded with core solution from Mark Information

Mark Information will collect all data on order spending and time usage for the Danish Defence equipment repair centres. ProMark will be a central part of the DeMars project which is to strengthen the productivity and efficiency in the Danish Defence.

The Danish Defence has implemented a data collection solution designed to create visibility of the resources spent in all its equipment repair centres in Denmark. The solution, delivered by Mark Information, will integrate into the Danish Defence’s DeMars project, which is the largest SAP/R3 installation in Northern Europe.
Mark Information’s ProMark system will be a central part of the Danish Defence’s goal to strengthen its productivity and efficiency. A total of about 1,200 employees will enter order and time & attendance data into ProMark. The first phase will cover the Danish Defence’s main repair centres while the second phase will include all its subcentres.

The ProMark solution will play an important role in the DeMars project because real-time data from the repair centres was previously unavailable. Using ProMark, the repair centres will interface directly to SAP/R3, which is tailor-made to the needs of the shop floor.

All data in relation to order handling and time & attendance will be entered at terminals in the repair centres and transferred via ProMark to the SAP/R3 system. In this way, repair center managers as well as managers at the Danish Defence head office will have a clear overview of the repair centres’ resource spending as well as their capacity.

“We have chosen a tailor-made solution for the repair centres because of the need for a user-friendly solution which is intuitive to use,” says Captain Mogens Nielsen, Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization. “The project has been an EU tender, and we have chosen Mark Information’s solution because it offers the best functionality and integration into SAP/R3. Mark Information has solid references on SAP projects in large Danish companies and this also influenced our decision.”

According to Mogens Nielsen, it is important for the Danish Defence to be able to collect exact data on spending for repair and maintenance because this influences the Danish Defence’s total finances. Furthermore, the Danish Defence needs an accurate overview of capacity in the individual repair centres. As a consequence of the DeMars project, all equipment repairs will be allocated to the repair centres with the best capacity and at the lowest cost. In this way, ProMark will help to plan the optimum utilisation of resources.

Says Carlos M. Christensen, CEO, Mark Information: “This order from the Danish Defence confirms the trend we acknowledge in all European markets – companies are requesting solutions that can bring large SAP/R3 installations the last mile to the shop floor and collect real-time production data. Our solutions give companies the adaptability and overview which are crucial to increasing productivity and boosting their competitive edge.”

About The Danish Defence’s Management and Resource planning/allocation system (DeMars)
DeMars is a new IT system which manages finance, equipment, personnel and organisational structure. Incorporating a management information system called LIS, DeMars is built on the German software program SAP R/3. The reason for implementing DeMars is a wish to create visibility of finance, equipment, personnel and much more within the Danish Defence. By acquiring the complete SAP enterprise resource planning system, the Danish Defence can replace not only its finance & accounting, management information and inventory planning systems, but also a number of personnel administration systems – a total of approximately 60 systems, all used at central levels.
